SIZE CHART

Selle Italia Saddles

What do letters and numbers indicate?

The sizes of the Selle Italia saddles are characterized by a letter and a number, which combined allow us to offer 6 different options, to which we must add the single triathlon size, called U3.

Currently Selle Italia offers 6 size variants divided into two groups: S1, S2, S3 – L1, L2, L3. Plus the aforementioned U3.

What do the letters indicate?

S or L indicate the width of the saddle, and what guides the choice between the two is the intertrochanteric distance (between the ischial bones of the pelvis).

SIZE S: narrow distance, for people with a value below 120mm

SIZE L: wide distance, for people with a value above 120mm

For a correct identification of the width that a cyclist needs, Selle Italia recommends performing a Bike Fitting with the idMatch system.

What do the numbers indicate?

1, 2 and 3 indicate the presence or absence of the central discharge hole (Flow technology). What guides the choice is the rotation of the pelvis and the flexibility of our body.

For those cyclists with excellent pelvic rotation, size 3 is recommended, while for those with less flexibility, size 1 is recommended.

1: indicates closed saddle, that is, the absence of a hole.

2: indicates the presence of a smaller hole called "Flow".

3: indicates the presence of the hole called "Superflow" (the widest one).

The additional choice of shape

Depending on the type of cyclist

If you are a Dynamic cyclist, who moves a lot on the saddle without having a precise position, we recommend a "flat" shape.

On the other hand, if you are a Static cyclist, meaning that you have a fixed position on the saddle and do not move much on it, we recommend a "Waved" shape.

According to the pelvis rotation

Depending on the type of pelvis the cyclist has, a flatter or more curved saddle is recommended.

Anteverted pelvis: the lumbar curve is very visible and the spine is not aligned, leaving the pelvis more forward. A flat saddle is recommended.

Normal pelvis: the lumbar curve has a normal alignment with the spine. Neutral saddles are recommended, with little curve.

Retroversion of the pelvis: the pelvis is in a position further back from the waist. Waved saddles are recommended.

How to check your pelvis rotation

To check your pelvic rotation, lean your back, glutes, and heels against the wall. Compare your position with the images below:
